Asmita Patel is the Division Deputy, Operations in the Accelerator Technology & Applied Physics (ATAP) Division at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She manages a multifunctional team that provides the business and support functions for ATAP, and works on strategy issues for the overarching Physical Sciences Area.
Her LBNL roles have all incorporated the major themes of her career: strategic planning, business, operations management, and communications in a scientific environment, hence her excitement about learning from and contributing to CUCSA. Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is a passion point that she has worked to advance. As a first-year delegate she looks forward to collaborating with UC campuses to leverage systemwide resources to build
community and to help LBNL staff who are working towards an inclusive culture.
UC has been another running theme of Asmita’s professional life. She earned a Ph.D. from UC Riverside, conducted postdoctoral research at UC Santa Barbara, and has an executive MBA from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley, and participated in the 2017 UC Systemwide CORO program. Before coming to LBNL, she worked over 16 years in biotech, healthcare, and diagnostics in the private sector.
