Junior Delegate, UC Santa Cruz
Job Title: Manager for HR Business Information Services
UC Service: 9 years
2021 kicks off Nathan’s first year of CUCSA service, representing Santa Cruz as the Junior Delegate.
Nathan is the Manager for HR Business Information Services within UCSC’s centralized Staff Human Resources department. He is serving in his fifth year on the UCSC Staff Advisory Board and currently holds the role of the SAB Chair.
Nathan has lived in both Northern and Southern California, Florida, and Texas. He earned degrees in Counseling Psychology and Bible & Theology from William Jessup University. After bouncing back and forth between summer camp administration and UCSC, Nathan seems to have settled at the UC for the long haul – but he still lives next door to a summer camp in the Santa Cruz mountains!
Nathan is primarily interested in improving the staff engagement at Santa Cruz and is excited for the fresh partnership with UCSC’s new Chancellor, Cindy Larive. With her, he hopes to co-create solutions that educate and encourage UCSC staff to take the kind of action that brings about the change they seek and yields a feeling of influence over matters that affect them. Also, he is focused on increasing access to the basic needs of healthy food and housing to those who qualify for low-income assistance in the hyper-impacted housing market of Santa Cruz County. Nathan advocates for staff on these two issues whenever possible with campuswide, systemwide, and Regental leadership.
