Biography

Karen has worked at UCSF since 2011 and currently support communication and promotion efforts for faculty educators as part of UCSF’s education mission in the Center for Faculty Educators. She creates and manages digital and print publications as well as serve as her unit’s website administrator. She staffs two committees that recognize and celebrate staff and faculty excellence in health professions education, and supports the diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism/anti-oppression committee for the Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators. She also engages in DEIA-AR work with colleagues in her department and unit, with interest in supporting this work at the campus level. In Fall 2016, she completed UCSF’s Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program and continues to work with the program’s alumni as a member of the alumni leadership team. For the past two years, she’s served in UCSF’s Staff Assembly as the Communications, Marketing & Outreach Officer and Officer-Elect. Karen is a proud alumnus from UC Berkeley, graduating in 1997. In 2007 She received her MBA from Keller Graduate School of Business. She enjoys reading non-fiction, listening to an eclectic range of music, and exploring urban hiking and walking paths in the Oakland – Bay Area.
