Biography

Roberta Camarena is Chair-Elect of the UC San Diego Staff Association Executive Board (SAEB). She has served in these multiple roles at UC San Diego in the past few years: SAEB Secretary, Black Staff Association (BSA) Secretary, Black Alumni Council (BAC) Executive Board Lead, and Chicanx/Latinx Alumni Council (CLAC) Executive Board Lead. She has Co-Chaired the César Chávez Month Celebration and the Latin History Month Celebration, in addition, Roberta served on the Black History Month Celebration Committee.

Roberta currently serves as UC San Diego’s Director of Chancellor Community Relations. She has 20+ years of higher education experience within Student Affairs and Academic Affairs.

As an Immigrant from Tijuana, B.C., Mexico, Roberta resided in San Diego since the age of 5; earned a Biochemistry/Cell Biology B.S. from UC San Diego, La Jolla, CA and a Leadership in Higher Education M.A.Ed. from the United States University, Chula Vista, CA.
