Biography
Samia Hamnache is the Chair-Elect of the UC San Diego Staff Association Executive Board (SAEB). She also served as Inclusion Chair-Elect of the UC San Diego SAEB and EDI Advisory Council Member (Vice Chancellor Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) from 2022 to 2024.
In her role as the Administrative Operations Supervisor for the Department of Neurological Surgery, Samia leads the administrative staff as well as the development and oversight of fundamental programs and committees such as the department’s Grant Review Committee, Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee, and emergency planning.
Samia was born and raised in Normandy, France where she grew up in a multicultural and multilingual environment (Italian mother and Algerian father). She has also had the opportunity to live in several countries.
She values cultural enrichment, kindness, and community relations. Samia particularly enjoys art, international travel, and volunteering (e.g. border wall patients and families, International Rescue Committee, San Diego Fire Department, American Red Cross International Rescue Program, Urban Angels Canteen, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, etc.)
Samia is thrilled to now serve a CUCSA delegate, where she hopes to represent UC San Diego staff and contribute to a greater UC.
