Biography
Kristen Ikeda Yoza is the First-Year delegate from UC Santa Barbara and she is the co-chair of UCSB’s Staff Assembly. As the CLAS Writing & Languages Coordinator she is responsible for the administration and coordination of tutorial services. This includes the Writing Lab, Writing Drop-In, Academic Communities of Excellence and English for Multilingual Students (EMS) tutorials, and Language Drop-In Center. Develops and manages a multi-dimensional writing program for a range of university students. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising 40+ tutors yearly. Develops partnerships with faculty and serves as a liaison to a variety of campus units and academic departments. Responsible for CLAS publicity and outreach regarding writing and language services.
Kristen is also a UCSB alum who entered UCSB as a transfer student and graduated in 2011 with a BA in Linguistics. She then went on to complete an MA in Linguistics at Eastern Michigan University. After completing her degree she accepted a position teaching English in Japan where she lived for five years before returning to California in 2019.
