Biography

Jasmyn is a Staff Data Scientist in the Biosciences Area at Berkeley Lab. Soon after graduating from UC Davis, she joined the lab in 2004 at DOE Joint Genome Institute’s inception as a national user facility. There, she played a key role in the Community Science Program by working on sequencing quality control of the first draft genomes. Jasmyn is a part of Berkeley Lab’s Women’s Support and Empowerment Council (WSEC) and their Policy subcommittee. Jasmyn is committed to cultivating an equitable workplace where everyone can thrive and leverage their unique strengths. These values resonated deeply and personally after she became a parent, inspiring her to champion support for pregnant and nursing mothers and highlight UC benefits that empower families. Her work with CUCSA has further fueled a profound passion for advocating on behalf of staff, actively championing their voices in policy and leadership decisions to enhance their overall well-being.
Outside of work, Jasmyn likes exploring nature, traveling, discovering new music, being funny, and spending time with her family, including her four young children.
